32 CSM Statements 2008

Beware Black Propaganda.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement urge all republicans to be wary of black propaganda emanating from within the British intelligence services as evidenced in the lead story of The Jan 16th issue of The Irish News.

The 32CSM have every faith that the republican base will see such stories for what they are, a clear attempt to criminalise and demonise the wider republican movement in advance of a possible reintroduction of some form of internment in the six counties.

The media in recent weeks has carried a number of reports from the constitutional nationalists, policing board and the leadership of the RUC/PSNI stating the need to deal with the ‘dissidents’ as a matter of urgency. Many such leaders have pointed out the success of the Dublin government in dealing with republicans. We believe this is all choreographed and may be the first move in introducing legislation similar to that in the twenty six counties that allows republicans to be interned of the word of a senior garda alone. We believe that either new legislation will be used or that the British will enact existing legislation such as the ‘anti terror’ legislation that was recently cobbled together to intern Muslims in Britain.

Republicans are of the opinion that the ‘exclusive’ in The Irish News has been place by elements within MI5 in order to make moves to introduce such legislation more palatable to the wider nationalist community. Sunday tabloid style sensationalism on the front page of The Irish News is a part of the choreography

Attempts to link Óglaigh na hÉireann to drug dealers and loyalists is an exercise in barrel scrapping which will not fool a single person who has any knowledge of the use of black propaganda in the conflict in Ireland.

We would also advise republicans to be vigilant at this time as such a story may have another sinister purpose. It is possible that this story has been planted in advance of moves to eliminate members of the republican movement and then to write it off as simply a fall out between criminals, thus absolving the British and their pro Stormont allies from any blame.

Finally we would question why not one member of the republican movement was contacted in advance of this story to check its veracity and when did the Irish News begin to use unnamed ‘sources’ to build stories around and then present them as fact. The onus is now on The Irish News to prove their allegations or to risk being viewed as tools of the British intelligence services, whether willingly or otherwise.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement urge all republicans to support a protest against criminalisation planned for
Saturday 26th January at the offices of The Irish News 113-117 Donegal Street Belfast at 3pm.
A dangerous new trend has developed in recent weeks whereby some elements within the media have attempted to criminalise those republicans who have rejected the British administration in Stormont. The Irish News has been particularly active in this new role as MI5 mouthpieces rather than an impartial representative of nationalist opinion. The editorial team in this once credible paper have taken to their new role with great relish to the point of publishing outlandish stories supposedly taken from unnamed and unsubstantiated ‘sources’ and then refusing Irish Republican Separatists any print space in order to counter these ludicrous creations.
The 32 County Sovereignty Movement believe that it is imperative that the actions of The Irish News do not go unchallenged as it is our opinion that such attempts at criminalisation are a pre cursor to a new crackdown on anti agreement republicanism.
This crackdown has been called for by the main nationalist parties through the pages of this paper and this line has been faithfully parroted by Irish News editorials.
As it is clear that no republican in Ireland can receive a fair trial and that the British intelligence services and their agents are up to their necks in attempting to frame republican separatists we would ask the Irish News how exactly republicans should be dealt with?
The Irish News has put itself firmly on the side of the British political administration in Ireland, not alone by attempting to recruit young nationalists in to the British army and police through their situations vacant pages but also by putting themselves and some of their staff at the disposal of the British security services.
The Irish News must be in a position to prove the veracity of their stories and we call on them to do so. We also call on them to cease their practise of adopting a partisan political position in defence of the British administration in Ireland and to give republican separatism a right to reply to criminalisation attempts emanating from MI5.
These are issues which impact upon all republicans not just those within the 32 County Sovereignty Movement as it is not just our organisations that are being criminalised but the whole republican separatist position.
Fight criminalisation

32CSM uncover huge drugs haul in East Tyrone
Posted on 31/1/2008

On Tuesday 29th January a number of members of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement in East Tyrone uncovered a huge cannabis factory in the Kildress area. The members were alerted to the drug factory when they recieved a number of complaints of anti social behaviour in this house and the surrounding area.

On entering the premises the republican activists found a huge amount of cannabis in various stages of growth as well as assorted parapenalia for its cultivation such as vents, heaters and a sprinkler system.

The 32 CSM members took a local priest along in order to witness them uncovering the drugs haul and to leave him to do with that knowledge as he saw fit.

The discovery of such a huge operation by the 32CSM has undoubtedly helped in the fight against criminality and drugs in this rural area and we commend our members for their actions. We also urge anyone with information on drug dealing and anti social behaviour to contact the 32 County Sovereignty Movement.
British Military Offensive  07/02/2008

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement views with deep anger this weeks dramatic upsurge in offensive operations by the British police directed at nationalist districts across the 6 occupied counties. It is clear to us the swamping of working class nationalist housing estates, roads and rural districts in south Armagh, Newry and Derry city since Saturday evening accompanied by low flying helicopters, aggressive searching, patrolling and surveillance by heavily armed British policemen is a direct result of the public statement in the week prior to Christmas by Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness and SDLP leader Mark Durkan. These constitutional nationalist political leaders openly criticised the PSNI for failing to arrest and jail republican activists in sufficient numbers, giving the British the green light to pursue its aggressive armed incursions within our communities.

This disgraceful public statement was accompanied by an unprecedented and prolonged campaign of propaganda emanating from the constitutional nationalist media, politicians and British intelligence services seeking to demonise and criminalise republican activists. The nationalist political establishment at Stormont have clearly signalled to the British their support and compliance for offensive operations within republican heartlands. The responsibility for the British forces activities in our districts this week lies as surely with them as it does in MI5's Holywood base.

These counter insurgent operations from Derry to Newry are also clearly not directed at any one group in particular but against working class nationalist and republican communities in general as a show of strength by the British police encouraged and openly egged on by nationalist political leaders. No republican can give their support to this activity by the British forces in Ireland, a foreign occupying force showing its true counter insurgent colours and hostility to traditionally republican working class communities. The PSNIs role is the RUC's and RIC's role - Defence of the Realm and the suppression and criminalisation of all opposition to British state institutions in Ireland. That is the purpose of their invasion of our districts in the last 4 days

We are also mindful that the response of your youth to this armed offensive against their districts by the British police has, as always, not been found wanting. The 32CSM recognise and salute their ongoing resistance to the British forces this week and regard any calls by local politicians for their neighbours to inform on them to the British as utterly despicable. Our youth are our future and their instinctive response to these armed incursions by the British into their districts is a source of pride to many.

We take this opportunity again to make it clear that the republican struggle for national sovereignty will neither be criminalised nor defeated by the British state and its hangers on within the constitutional nationalist political leadership class. The PSNI are a force of British occupation in our country and its is they who are the criminals, not those republicans who oppose their illegal presence and the crime of partition in Ireland. Finally we express our solidarity with those who have been arrested and call on all republicans regardless of party allegiance to stand side by side in comradeship against these attempts to criminalise and subdue not only our struggle but the very communities from which we draw our strength, solidarity and support.

The sight of heavily armed British police manning checkpoints across the occupied six counties is proof that British rule can only be implemented through political policing and force of arms.

In order to protect the illegal six county statelet, the RUC/PSNI are clearly acting in both a political and a military role, roles which nationalists were led to believe during last years policing debates were not acceptable to Provisional Sinn Fein.

Raids across the six counties by the RUC’s special branch, directed by British military intelligence further illustrated the inherently political/military nature of British policing in Ireland.

Martin McGuinness’ feigned ignorance of republican separatist strategy in Dundalk at the North/South ministerial council meeting fails to take into account that heavily armed British military personnel are on our streets backed by a heavily resourced British military intelligence machine.

Anyone who believes that the British Army withdrew the bulk of their forces from Ireland because of a victory for republicans need only look at the events of the last few days and draw their own conclusions.

The operations by the RUC/PSNI are not new to republicans, raids, stop and searches and checkpoints have been ongoing for years but this recent high profile publicity stunt is just visual proof that the British state in Ireland will revert to type if under threat.

That the first and deputy first minister of the British administration in Stormont should call for the public to inform on republican separatists is a predictable reaction from British ministers however due to the ongoing criminalisation policy against republicans we in the 32 County Sovereignty Movement would urge all republican activists to be wary and remain vigilant in the coming days and weeks.

Republican Response to Mr O'Caolain's statement in Leinster House.

It comes as no surprise to Republicans that Mr O'Caolain and his party have been indulging in Spin and political side stepping when faced with uncomfortable questions as to the existence of the Provisional IRA Army Council as produced to them in Leinster house on the 6th of March..
We would like to ask Mr O’ Caolain as to why the PIRA army council would act as a bulwark to Republican Groups?

If as has been claimed that the PIRA’s war is over and are determined to achieve their goals by “peaceful and purely democratic means” then what measures will they take?

If as he suggests that Republicanism is advancing why as a self confessed republican and member of a “republican” party would he attempt to contain it and espouses the very undemocratic nature of politics and its worse manifestation in British rule in Ireland.

We regard his patronisation and ignorance of Republicans as wholly typical of the way his party has treated the Republican grass roots in their objection of the British Police and the attack on Irish Sovereignty by the British government and with the ever growing level of support for Republican Separatism we will expect to hear a lot more of this in the coming months in advance of Policing and Justice power being devolved to Stormont.

Republicans also note his collusion with members of the southern political establishment in their united aim of being a bulwark to the republican advance and is this a disguised nod to the type of treatment republicans have endured from the same establishment in the past?

Republicanism is advancing and will continue to do so irrespective of Mr O Caolain and his Party.

32 CSM warn ill treatment of republican POW's will not be tolerated.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement, the Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association and the wider republican family will not tolerate any further attacks on republican prisoners such as that carried out by the prison riot squad against republican remand prisoner Anton Craig.

Anton, 23 from the Short Strand area of Belfast was returning from the canteen with his food when he was told to remove an Easter Lilly which the prison officer told him was a 'sectarian emblem'.
As a republican Anton obviously refused and was then informed that he was on a charge and would face punishment for refusing an order. Anton proceeded to his cell where he staged a token protest by wrecking up certain items such as table, chairs and other furniture.

At around 4.30-5.00 pm, eight members of the prison's riot squad entered Anton's cell and seriously assaulted him leaving him black and blue. They rammed his face into the cell floor asking him who ordered him to protest and calling him 'nothing but a provie bastard'. The riot squad also trashed the sink, toilet and electrics in his cell.

As a consequence of the actions of the prison staff, Anton Craig has been sitting in a cell with out electric, washing facilities and a toilet that will not flush since Easter Sunday, there is nothing in his cell but a bed. A number of other prisoners were charged with wearing lilies and were charged, adjudicated on and sent to the punishment block the next day for 48 hours, all are back on the republican wing whereas Anton has yet to be adjudicated on and is facing up to seven days solitary confinement on top of the punishment he is already enduring.

The republican movement urge all republicans to resist this criminalisation and to support republican prisoners in their battle for political status. The attitude of the prison staff against republicans is nothing but the attitude of the British to Irish republican separatists in microcosm.
The republican base can no longer and will no longer endure attacks on republicanism either within the prisons or outside their walls.

RUC/PSNI have no legitimacy.

Following today’s meeting between Provisional Sinn Fein and the RUC/PSNI it is essential that Mr Gerry Adams and his party colleagues explain to the republican community how they can state that the RUC/PSNI are the legitimate police force in the six counties?

Where does this legitimacy come from given that Britain retains political control over the six counties and MI5 retain political control over all aspects of policing relating to security?. What has changed in the constitutional position of the six counties to allow republicans to give the RUC/PSNI legitimacy. On whose behalf exactly have Provisional Sinn Fein accepted this legitimacy?
Will Provisional Sinn Fein provide clarity to both the unionist and nationalist communities in the north by publicly declaring that the RUC/PSNI are the one and only legitimate police force here and by extension will they publicly state the legitimacy of the state of ‘Northern Ireland’?

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement and other republicans are not opposed to British policing in the north because of a lack of results from the RUC/PSNI. The 32CSM are opposed to the fact of British policing not just the manner of British policing. For republicans ALL British policing is illegitimate and illegal due to the ongoing occupation of part of the national territory.

During the policing debates of Jan 2007 republican separatists were told by PSF party apparatchiks that they would be in there ‘Challenging the political detectives’, what was discussed in today’s meeting that has done this given that the political detectives reside in bunkers in Holywood and do not indulge in propaganda photo calls in Hillsborough?

Finally, can Mr Adams give the republican base a definitive moment when republicans bearing arms in defence of national sovereignty ceased to be engaged in a legitimate national liberation struggle and became part of an illegal criminal conspiracy against a legitimate political entity?

RUC/PSNI RAID EMPTY HOME.

On Sunday 27th April a special RUC/PSNI search squad, directed by British military intelligence, raided the home of Orla Brady in Derry’s Creggan estate. Orla is the partner of 32 County Sovereignty Movement member Gary Donnelly who is currently being interned in Portlaoise prison along with three other Derry men by Free State authorities.

The house that was raided by the RUC has been empty for over a week while Orla waits for refurbishment work to begin next week. When asked what they were looking for in an empty house the RUC personnel replied that they had been sent to collect clothing for evidence relating to a case against Gary Donnelly, this a full six weeks after Gary’s detention in a different jurisdiction.

It is quite clear to the 32 County Sovereignty Movement that this squad, which comprised of personnel from Gough barracks in Armagh, was there to remove electronic equipment in advance of work being carried out to the house. It is also clear that MI5 are operating with Free State special Branch on a 32 county basis to solidify British rule in Ireland. This is the true face of what the nationalist and republican community in the north were promised was ‘non political policing’.
32CSM United Nations Submission
10th Anniversary

‘Over the centuries Britain has refused to recognise Ireland’s right to National Sovereignty’. Thus begins the United Nations Submission lodged by the 32 County Sovereignty Movement a decade ago as our response to unfolding developments concerning the Anglo-Irish wconflict. To define the exact nature of the problem we faced was difficult due to the secrecy of the negotiations that had been ongoing between the leadership of the Republican Movement and both British and Irish governments. It was only as the process evolved and British demands became apparent that republicans began to realise that the then republican leadership had failed to protect our national sovereignty within the negotiations. It was a monumental flaw not least for which was the lessons of our history which witnessed a similar flaw that resulted in Partition and Civil War. Although the argument that history is written by the winners remains a pertinent one it is not the preserve of the winners only to learn from it. To this end those within the Republican Movement who became increasingly alarmed at developments realised that the issue of Irish sovereignty was being usurped and formed a committee, the 32 County Sovereignty Committee, within Sinn Fein to raise awareness of our concerns. The reaction from the Sinn Fein leadership was to disbar members of this committee from addressing the Ard Fheis and from there onto suspensions from the party without recourse to protocol or procedure. That remains the case to date.

Nationhood, and the right to fight for it, is predicated on the existence of a sovereign people. It is from the people’s sovereignty that the right to enact and enforce laws derives. In any conflict where sovereignty is in dispute it is incumbent on any protagonist to firmly establish the lawful basis of their claim to sovereign status. Throughout Irish history all the great Irish patriots who challenged the British occupation did so from a declared position of the Irish people’s right to national sovereignty. And all the great calamities like the imposition of partition, and its maintenance, have arisen when that right was abandoned by the Irish side. When the plenipotentiaries in 1922 conceded to the British demand that they could not negotiate as members of the lawful government of the Irish people our right to national sovereignty was abandoned by them. When republican negotiators in the 1990’s conceded to the British demand that the unionist veto reign supreme they also abandoned our right to national sovereignty. It was into this breach that the 32 County Sovereignty Movement entered.

What was apparent at the start was that any move by us to assert our right to national sovereignty would be cast as anti peace, even by republican detractors. But the importance of the issue was such that it had to transcend the politics being played out in its denial. It became clear that the republican negotiators had moved beyond a point wherein the issue of sovereignty could be returned to by them. This was the British goal. Therefore it fell to those republicans who had moved on the issue to formally launch both a definition and defence of Irish sovereignty as a challenge to the validity of both the negotiations and their outcome. The challenge was not against the ceasefire or the concept of negotiations but against a process wherein Irish sovereignty was not vehemently defended.

As with the First and Second Dáil recognition of their validity was an essential part of defending their existence. The then members petitioned the Paris Peace Convention which met as a result of the First World War and endeavoured to establish protocols which would be used to resolve international disputes to avoid future conflict over issues such as sovereignty. The petition ultimately failed not because of the lack of veracity of the Irish case but due to the internal politicking of the Conference itself. But it was important to make the petition because it was an act of a sovereign parliament defending its right to exist. The Paris Peace Conference was not viewed as a device to confer legitimacy on the Irish claim but as a body that could support it. That it chose not to did not delegitimise the Irish position.

Working off this model the 32CSM moved to assert our right to national sovereignty in the international arena. We were not entering that arena to find our sovereignty, but to defend it. The United Nations, the off spring of the Paris Conference, was equally charged with establishing laws and protocols to settle international disputes. And this was an issue that went to the heart of the conflict; how was the conflict to be defined? For our part the conflict was one between the country and people of Ireland against the British violation of our sovereignty by way of their occupation in Ireland. For the British it was a regional dispute within the borders of the United Kingdom. The Good Friday Agreement is ultimately a product of the British definition.

To define Irish sovereignty is to define the conflict. To define the conflict is to define its resolution and that remains the necessary basis upon which the Submission was made. Those that now assert that the Constitutional Question is now settled must themselves define Irish sovereignty so that we can see that no violation of it by an outside power exists. The British government defined its sovereignty as that which extended over the Six Counties and vehemently defended that. Irish sovereignty extends over the Thirty Two Counties which means a conflict of over sovereignty persists only if that definition of our sovereignty is asserted. That is our assertion and through our Submission we challenged those who were acting in default of this sovereignty to so defend themselves at the United Nations. We were more than cognisant of the fact that our sway at the UN was negligible but that in no way delegitimised our claims because though the UN was the arbiter of the laws governing these issues it was not itself those laws. Good laws can have bad courts and it was to the spirit and intent of those laws that the 32CSM’s claims were made.

Those who opposed the basis upon which the negotiations were taking place were vilified as anti peace. A well worn mantra emerged that peace and dialogue were the only ways forward but it was a mantra that actually translated as that the politics of this peace process was the only way forward. This was borne out by the reaction to the 32CSM’s peaceful challenge via the UN. Both governments urged the US government to ban our members from pursuing our challenge at the UN HQ in New York, were the Submission was lodged. That ban remains firmly in place and firmly supported by both governments. But nonetheless the challenge remains.

The 32CSM Submission is the only challenge in existence to the current constitutional status quo. It is not the property of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement but belongs to all those who view Irish sovereignty as we do. It is a vehicle for unity and change. The issue of our sovereignty extends to all issues pertaining to the lives and well being of the Irish people. Our National resources, our National Heritage are all issues of Irish sovereignty and supporting this challenge is a defence of these issues. We call upon all republicans to support this challenge and to unite around its core premise, that the violation of Irish sovereignty is the root cause of the Anglo-Irish conflict.

Anti-republican elements seek to discredit Sovereignty Movement

It has come to the attention of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement in Derry city that a number of leaflets have been circulated in the area warning individuals, that the leaflet claims are drug dealers, that the 32CSM will take action against them. These leaflets are purporting to come from the 32 County Sovereignty Movement which is clearly not the case. Members of the 32CSM in the city believe that there is a dirty tricks element to this episode. The leaflet in question not only gets the name of the movement wrong but is littered with quite deliberate spelling mistakes and basic grammatical errors, this is clearly pre-empting a denial by ourselves, the sinister elements involved in distributing these leaflets can then claim that it is the work of an idiot with a grudge.
The 32 County Sovereignty Movement believe that this dirty tricks campaign is directly aimed at an initiative put forward by our activists in Derry to name and shame drug dealers and to pickets homes of known drug dealers and anti social elements if necessary. The leaflet finishes with a bizarre claim that should the recipient of this leaflet fail to mend their ways, then this case will be passed on to the 32CSM’s ‘Army Council’ in the city.
The 32CSM are convinced this is a deliberate attempt to undermine the republican separatist movement and to scupper any community initiatives we have planned. We are confident that the republican community will see through this pathetic attempt by elements loyal to Stormont to bring our movement into disrepute and we would urge anyone who receives leaflets or literature that they are not sure about to contact the 32 County Sovereignty Movement immediately.

Loyalist Parades Through Nationalist Areas with PSF’s Help
The revelation that PSF may get involved with the Loyalist Band Forum to police Loyalist Parades through Nationalist areas where they are not welcome comes as no surprise to the republican and nationalist base.
PSF have for some time been involved with Loyalists to ensure that at least one Loyalist parade will be allowed through Nationalist areas, areas where they are not wanted and where there is a history of mob riots emanating from those in the parades. Areas where residents and business people have asked why loyalists want to parade through their locality? The only logical explanation to answer such a question, is to raise sectarian tensions and to act in a triumphalist manner against the nationalist people. In other words the Nationalist people are to be treated as second class citizens, a trait familiar to former Stormont administrations, and it would now seem, to contemporary regimes also..
One such flashpoint is Castlederg in West Tyrone.
For over thirty years loyalist bands and supporters have created havoc in the Nationalist Ferguson Crescent and Killeter Road area of the town despite appeals from residents and business people to stop such sectarian parades.
In the past such parades were forced through assisted by British Police in Ireland, in more recent years when parades were prohibited from this area the security was such that no one could get in or out of the town until such parades were over and this usually lasted up to three hours and more.
The most recent exposure of PSF’s involvement occurred over the past number of weeks. Pro-PSF community leaders have held meetings with the people in the affected area and despite being asked at every meeting if there was any contact relating to a parade going through their areas, the answer was no.
Then at the last meeting attended by British MP Pat Doherty and local PSF Cllr C Mc Hugh it was outlined that during contact with loyalists and the parades people, it was agreed that a band parade to remember a UDR man would be permitted.
The people of the area were furious that PSF had undertaken to represent them in this way without consultation and without permission to speak on their behalf and they left the PSF MP in no doubt of their feelings and were they stood on this issue.
They see such a parade as sectarian and unnecessary to march through a Nationalist area.
Within days of the meeting PSF spin was that a parade was being forced through this area only for the representation of PSF MP Pat Doherty.
Such lies emanating from a party that once supported the beleaguered Nationalist communities from sectarian taunts and riots, to now being directly involved with such parades of hate, is indicative of just how deeply PSF have been absorbed into the partitioned statelet.
This feeble attempt by PSF to create the façade of normalization, a well worn policy of successive British Governments, will not fool anyone least of all the Nationalist people of Castlederg who have suffered greatly as a result of such sectarian parades.
More outrageous in this saga is the news emanating that in return for allowing this parade through Castlederg PSF would be allowed to police it.
Another attempt by PSF to uphold British rule at every opportunity at the expense of the Nationalist and Republican people, in return for nothing.
PSF have achieved nothing for the working class people in West Tyrone.
They have achieved no advantage in the struggle for Independence.
Rather they continue to deny fellow citizens the right to National Self-determination and they fail to uphold the Sovereignty of the Irish Nation, a cause for which the leaders of 1916 (The Provisional Government of Ireland) gave their lives when executed by the British Government.
The National Chairperson of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement, Francie Mackey, urges all Nationalist communities to be vigilant in light of these treacherous moves by PSF and states that never again should Nationalist areas have to suffer the indignation of such sectarian parades through their areas.
This was the trait of the previous Stormont when Nationalist skulls were cracked by British Police in Ireland to force such parades through and now we have the present Stormont attempting the exact same policy. What has changed?

32 CSM welcome 'NO' result in Treaty Referendum

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement welcome the result of Lisbon Treaty referendum and congratulate the people of the 26 counties for standing firm in the face of the implied threats and dire warnings emanating from within the yes camp.
We would also like to thank all our activists who successfully campaigned for a No vote and salute them for their dedicated and tireless activism.
This referendum has reintroduced a number of key concepts into political discourse in Ireland such as Democracy, Sovereignty, Independence and Neutrality, concepts that have not been to the forefront in Irish politics for some time.
It is ironic that many of those who campaigned for and voted NO on the grounds of the treaty’s democratic deficiency, erosion of sovereignty, impact on our independence and possible ramifications for neutrality have failed to apply the same political logic to the on-going occupation of the Six counties by an equally unaccountable external politic.
Just like the EU, The British government in not democratically accountable to any section of the Irish people , Irish sovereignty is violated by Britain’s illegal presence in our country, Irish independence is reduced from a right to an aspiration, actively opposed by both political elites in the nation and neutrality is an illusion, not alone because of US warplanes in Shannon but because of the permanent garrison of up to 5000 troops and over 10,000 heavily armed British police in the six counties.
The Irish people’s right to national self determination is not protected by the EU constitution, just as it is not protected or even recognised by both the 26 county and British administrations here.
The 32 County Sovereignty Movement fully expect that we have not heard the end of the EU constitution and we urge the Irish people to oppose any future attempts to foist this undemocratic treaty upon them having already rejected it.
We also urge unity among republicans to actively challenge all current and future attacks on our democracy, sovereignty and independence in line with our republican separatist principles.

No Republican Involvement in Brutal Murder

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement would like to extend our deepest sympathises to the family and friends of Emmet Shiels and we take this opportunity to utterly condemn those who carried out this criminal act.
Following discussions with the Republican Movement in the city, we can confirm that Óglaigh na hÉireann had no hand, act or part in this senseless killing of an innocent young republican.
We feel a number of issues need to be addressed around this tragic incident.
How come a number of armed and masked youths were allowed to roam the Bogside and Creggan areas for up to two hours before Emmet was killed? Republicans know that these are areas of British security service surveillance due to the presence of republicans.
How come the RUC/PSNI took over two hours to arrive at the scene of the murder? We consider their story about fearing republican attack is a cover up, it is our opinion that had the RUC/PSNI believed there were armed republicans in the area they would surely have mobilised all available resources to apprehend or engage them.
We are also deeply critical of those establishment politicians from the area who sought to attribute blame to republicans long before the facts had become clear and those who persisted with this lie long after the facts revealed themselves. That some would use this murder and the understandable community anger to score points over political opponents is reprehensible and that they would do so knowing the potential for community division in the area does both the community and the family of Emmet Shiels a disservice.

Redundant Rhetoric and Crocodile Tears from British Minister

The redundant rhetoric spouted by Stormont Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness in Derry on Sunday confirms two facts; firstly, the policy of Sinn Fein statements being written for them by the British government is a continuing one and secondly, that the growth of republican separatism in that city will continue unabated. The crocodile tears shed for the late Emmet Shiels was a disgraceful display of political exploitation of a tragic event to score cheap political points. It was the stuff of Independent Newspapers and the stock in trade of tabloid so called Security Correspondents. Are there not other families in Ireland who have suffered similar tragedies but who did not qualify for a Sinn Fein media scrum to cast false aspersions before the facts were known? Are the McCartney and Quinn families any less deserving because their respective tragedies cannot generate political capital for Sinn Fein? Are Sinn Fein advising people to run to the RUC/PSNI at a quicker pace than the RUC/PSNI responded to the attack itself?

The feigned concern for the Shiels family was in sharp contrast to the indifference shown toward the suffering of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi families who have suffered at the hands of George Bush. Yet the same Stormont quisling was readily rolled out to perform as subordinate to the DUP leader in greeting Bush to the Six Counties, not as an occupied area but as an integral part of the United Kingdom. And whilst George Bush was congratulating the DUP’s poodle for finally being house trained the benign Ogra Sinn Fein were lamely protesting against the visit itself. Such spineless capitulation and insipid protesting is in no position to lecture to Irish republicans. But that is the nature of British rule in Ireland and of those who administer it. It is clear to all republicans which route Martin McGuinness chose when the fork in the road confronted Sinn Fein. Sinn Fein are the new force outside the Four Courts now, the new British bulwark, acting under their instruction and supply, against Irish republicanism. The Irish people and the Sinn Fein electorate are not one and the same. What sustains the Irish struggle for independence is our inalienable right to that independence. The politics of the opinion poll has no place in a revolutionary struggle. Irish national self determination cannot be expressed within a partitionist framework. The 32 County Sovereignty Movement calls for the disbandment of the British Administration in our country. We call for an end to British Parliamentary activity in Ireland, be it from direct rule from London or from their micro Ministers in Stormont.

While British Occupation Remains So Will Irish Resistance

The revelations that the people of Derry City are to be petitioned in order to put pressure on Anti Agreement Republican Separatists to disband is disingenuous in the extreme and smacks not only of political opportunism but also no small measure of desperation.

It is clear that those behind this political stunt are using the understandable anger in the community at the murder of Emmet Sheils to further their own political objectives, namely an end to opposition to support for the RUC/PSNI and the British Administration in Stormont.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement will not be deflected from our political work by such ill conceived political posturing nor will any other Anti Agreement Republican groupings.

Those who have sought to ferment community tensions by deliberately and falsely attributing blame for the murder of Emmet Sheils will be exposed for what they are as will their cynical use of his death for their own narrow agenda. Republicans will not be intimidated from upholding the Republican position and the 32 County Sovereignty Movement are resolute in our intention to continue our work in Derry City and across the nation.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement are attracting disillusioned and disenfranchised Republicans right across Ireland and further a field as are other Republican organisations and the cynical manipulation of this tragic event illustrates how low Pro State Nationalists will go to undermine this growth, they will fail.

We note also the presence of the so called Deputy First Minister in Iraq. Just recently the same Minister greeted the US President to the Six Counties without a whimper of protest from him against the occupation and wholesale slaughter in that country. This reluctance to petition for protest against these blatant injustices is at least consistent with their equal reluctance to petition for protest against other high profile murders here because they do not afford him the same opportunity for cheap political kudos

The Irish Resistance Movement will not be forced to disband and anyone endeavouring to do so is not only naïve but is also acting in a dangerous manner. Attempts to foster a civil war mentality will also fail as all previous attempts have done.
The 32 County Sovereignty Movement have this pledge to make to Republicans,
While the British Occupation remains so too will Irish Resistance to that Occupation.

Talks must be transparent

It has come to the attention of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement that on the evening of Wednesday 9th July two approaches were made to members of our Derry cumann to engage in talks of some description.
The first of these approaches was made by two organisers of a petition against anti agreement republicans through Community Restorative Justice and the second was by someone claiming to represent the Bogside/Brandywell Initiative.
The 32 County Sovereignty Movement’s position on talks with any group is clear, we will talk to anyone on the issues of our national sovereignty and national self determination.
Anyone wishing to engage with us must do so by writing to our National Secretary requesting talks and outlining what it is they wish to discuss. We are a national movement and anyone wishing to discuss issues with us must first go through our National Executive.
Any individual cumann or area is not permitted , by our constitution, to engage in discussions on the national movement’s behalf.
Those who have approached our members in Derry know full well how to contact our movement and we look forward to an official request, we are not aware of one at present.
The 32 County Sovereignty Movement are an open, democratic and transparent organisation and we will not be dragged back to the days of secret negotiations with open ended agendas, such actions have weakened and fragmented the republican movement in the recent past.
Finally, the 32 County Sovereignty Movement speak for ourselves and no one else and we will not act as a conduit for any other organisation.
Message ends.

32CSM member attacked by Provos in Derry.

A member of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement has been the victim of an unprovoked assault by members of the Provisional IRA in a Derry bar on Sunday 27th July. The victim received serious head and facial injuries and the entire attack by the four man gang has been captured on the Bar’s CCTV system.
Verbal attacks against members of the 32CSM and their partners have been on the increase in the last number of weeks as has intimidation against new younger members.
These verbal and physical attacks are the work of a small but dangerous group of Provisional movement hangers on who seem intent on creating a civil war mentality between the Provisionals and members of the Republican movement. We ask the Provisionals to keep their members in check before the situation gets out of control and we would ask whose agenda this is and whose it serves?
Finally we would urge members of the 32CSM and the Republican movement to remain disciplined and not to fall into the trap that this group is attempting to set.
Republican separatism is on the rise in Derry and across the nation and we would urge our members not to react to what appears to be the last kicks of a wounded animal. It is our opinion that these attacks are occurring because these gangs know that for Republicans to seek retribution is counter productive.
The Republican project will not be dragged into the gutter by these people and we will stand firm behind the Republican position.

RUC/PSNI Harassment of Political Activists Continues

On Thursday the 31st of July two member of the Derry 32CSM were travelling to a local Cumann meeting when the car that they where travelling in was halted by heavily armed RUC/PSNI officers who pointed machine guns at their heads and ordered them to stand in the road with their hands in the air, in full view of the passing public.
The RUC then seized two cars and raided the homes of several members of the 32CSM who rely the cars to travel to work in what appeared to be a massive operation involving officers from outside the city. One of the members whose car had been seized immediately phoned his partner to alert her that the house was getting raided. His partner had been lured to Strand Rd RUC station under the false pretence that she was to voluntarily attend an identity parade concerning the murder of her friend Jean Quigley, whilst she was in an interview room a friend who accompanied her to the barracks was contacted in relation to the raid. The RUC refused to allow the friend to alert the Cumann member’s partner and held her against her will in the interview room.
As harassment continues the RUC have stepped to a new low, this chain of events was obviously a pre-planed operation and the use of the murder to lure people out of a house so that it could be searched unhindered is very concerning and exposes the true nature of the RUC/PSNI and where their priorities lie.
The 32CSM would like to thank the people Cornshell Fields who came out onto the streets in protest at the raid; this is the very same street in which Jean Quigley was murdered last week. We would call on our activists and supporters to stand firm against this latest wave of intimidation.

Report all approaches immediately.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement are urging all republicans, regardless of which movement they are affiliated with to report any and every approach made by British/Free State intelligence services immediately to both their solicitors and a human rights organisation of their choice. We would also urge them to go public through their political organisation and through the media.
This follows an incident on Thursday 7th August where a member of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement in Derry was stopped for the second time in a matter of weeks and pressure was put on him to ‘Help them save lives’
The member who does not wish to be named gave the following statement to the 32 County Sovereignty Movement.
“After leaving a cumann meeting last Thursday night i was travelling along the Limavady road in Derry and saw a traffic stop ahead. I approached it and was stopped where I was asked for my license and was asked to pull the car in to the side of the road. As I had done this I was approached to the right by a cop in uniform and he knelt at drivers side window. At this point the passenger side door of the car was opened and another cop climbed into the car and closed the door behind him stating that they told me they would be back and they were men of their words. I immediately recognised him as the one who had approached me several weeks earlier.
They were both in uniform this time and were wearing high visibility vests and made reference to the traffic stop and that this had all been set up with regard to stopping me and having a 'chat.'

He stated that they wanted me to 'help them out' and when I made it clear I wasn't interested they referred to my children and the fact that it would be awful if all my work in getting my children in court was in vain and made it abundantly clear that they would be able to pull strings in any future court applications to make sure I would lose them. I took this as not only a threat but also the fact that the supposed upholders of the law were attempting to blackmail me .They also made reference to my financial situation and that they could and would 'ruin me.' They asked if I thought I was squeaky clean and when I said I was they said ' Wait until we go over your affairs with a microscope' and then we'll see.

They kept asking me if I could meet them the next night and I repeatedly told them I had no intention of doing so. They repeated a lot of the rhetoric from the first time they had stopped me and that they were there and were backed by 'everyone' now. They also stated that I was judged by the company I kept and made reference to another cumann member by name stating that he's ok where he is but look at where you are. I took this as another threat especially when he stated that they would 'liquidate' me. He seemed to stumble over the word liquidate and when I picked him up on what he had implied, he attempted to backtrack saying he didn't mean it that way but it was clear to me in the context of the conversation what he had meant and I took this as a threat to myself.

He referred to the fact that I had went to the media the last time and smirked saying that they were glad I had and he would in fact have recommended it had he thought , saying that it had confirmed my membership of the 32 county sovereignty movement. I said it was a legal organisation and I had done nothing wrong .

They pushed a phone number into the front of my car and said that this was to contact them with and said this offer wouldn't be on the table for long and that if I didn't accept this that my life wouldn't be worth living. He said ' We know you're fond of Tesco’s ,do you not hate it when you go in to look for a bargain only to find it's no longer there? Well, that's the case here. This is it. If you don't Accept it this time then the gloves are off!’ He also made it clear that they would be offering ‘a few quid’ They said if anyone asked I could say I was stopped for speeding and managed to talk my way out of it.

This stop had lasted for about 25 minutes. They attempted to give me directions of where to meet them even though I had stated that I wasn't interested. They had said to meet them at Faughanvale church the next night and the signal was for me to leave my house at exactly 8 o' clock the next night so I assumed that they would be watching my house.

When I got home I immediately telephoned a fellow member of the 32csm and we arranged to meet and contacted the local newspaper and my solicitor to say what happened.

I find it ironic that as a member of a political organisation, doing absolutely nothing illegal, that the supposed upholders of the law broke the law themselves with the attempt to blackmail me into breaking the law”

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement applaud this man for contacting the movement and his local paper with such haste. Approaches are not only made in the hope that the security apparatuses can find out anything useful, or that those approached may turn but also to cause paranoia and mistrust among political movements. Keeping silent regarding an approach is not an option, those who are carrying out these approaches are doing so in the hope that those they target will see the fact that they have been singled out as a sign of weakness, if they then keep this approach to themselves MI5 and the Special Branch can then exploit this by insinuating various thing.
Finally we would challenge those who promised to separate ‘civic policing and the political detectives’ to tell the Republican community why PSNI/RUC Traffic branch are making approaches on behalf of British intelligence or facilitating them in doing so?

Republican slogans censored by Provisional Movement in Derry

Republicans in Derry were left shocked, angry and disgusted in Derry by the antics of members of the Provisional Movement ahead of the annual Hunger Strike commemoration in the city on Sunday 18th August.

Just prior to the march members of the Provisional movement went along the route of the march painting out slogans in support of the Derry 4 and other political hostages held in Portlaoise gaol under draconian internment legislation. When confronted by members of the public including members of interned Republican Gary Donnelly’s family, the Provos stated that they were merely tidying the area up and that the slogans could be repainted after the march had passed, shortly afterwards a number of members of the Provisional movement returned to stand guard over their handiwork.

The 32 County Sovereignty Movement would ask those involved in this censorship to examine their actions and explain to the Republican community whose agenda was served censoring Republicans?
We would also ask them under whose authority did they act when removing Republican slogans and by whose authority did they imagine they had the right to tell Republicans when they could replace the slogans.

Finally we would ask them if they see no contradiction in commemorating the men who died behind bars resisting criminalisation, censorship and British rule in Ireland and painting over slogans calling for an end to criminalisation, censorship, internment and British rule in Ireland.
We commend those who confronted the political censors and also those who managed to replace the slogans along other areas of the march route.
End Censorship
End Internment By Remand

Like Father Like Son

The recent comments by Ian Paisley Jnr concerning his view that republican ‘dissidents’ should be shot on sight represents the Unionist equivalent of Provisional Sinn Fein’s recent calls for informers to be activated against same. In tandem with recent activity by MI5 to recruit agents against Irish republicans and the continuing policy of Internment by Remand it seems a worrying and familiar pattern is re-emerging. A systematic campaign of repression is quickly manifesting itself as the official political response from the teetering Stormont regime to republican separatist activity. No doubt as the crisis deepens within Stormont so too will the oppression escalate.

Since its inception after the Good Friday Agreement the current Partitionist regime has maintained itself on one illusion after another but republican activity has exposed the flaws upon which they were built. Slowly but surely the edifice at Stormont is crumbling under the weight of its inherent contradictions and anti democratic premise. Republicans had warned of this from the beginning that unless the issue of the violation of Irish sovereignty was dealt with as the core cause of the conflict the conflict would continue. Ian Paisley Jnr knows this hence his call for the truth to be shot on sight. The 32 County Sovereignty Movement urges all republican separatists to remain steadfast in their analysis, to remain steadfast in their activity and to remain vigilant for the onslaught which will surely come from the failing entity.

Francis Mackey urges all Republicans to attend Anti-Internment Protest

32 County Sovereignty Movement national chairperson, Francis Mackey, has urged all Republicans to attend the Anti-Internment protest, organised by the Derry 32CSM, this Saturday 6th September.
The Protest will be held at Free Derry corner at 2pm and will be addressed by Mr Mackey who stated
“We in the 32 County Sovereignty Movement would urge all Republicans, Socialists and all those who profess an interest in civil rights and liberties from Derry and surrounding areas to attend to show their solidarity with the Derry 4 and all others who are currently incarcerated in Portlaoise gaol at the behest of a foreign government acting in defence of Britain’s illegal sovereign claim to the occupied six counties.
We believe that it is incumbent upon all those who believe in the freedom of political expression to highlight and challenge this draconian practise that allows the Free State government to intern Republicans on remand, without producing evidence, for long periods of time on the uncorroborated word of a senior member of An Garda Siochana. We would also ask those who would perhaps not consider themselves Republicans in the traditional sense to bear in mind that this practice can easily be extended to include all those who reject the current political status quo in either state in Ireland whether that be those who challenge the sell off of our natural resources or the corporate greed of a small political elite. I look forward to addressing likeminded political activists this Saturday and hope that such events are the beginning of a co-ordinated response to the co-ordinated attacks on Republicanism, Socialism and the right to free political expression”

32 CSM condemn attempts by English police to gather information from School boy .

Yesterday in the North West of England the son of a supporter of the 32CSM was subjected to a process that left him frightened and intimidated when he was interviewed for 90 minutes, on his first day back after the school holidays, about his father and the boys interest in Ireland.
The police officer told the young boy, in a clear attempt to intimidate “that he had researched him, and that he knew everything about him, so not to hide anything” the officer went on to tell the boy that he was going to ring his father, and took out a mobile phone. Seeking to give the impression that the father knew what was going on.
Then went on to ask the boy about his father’s car, movements, and general business, the young boy was also asked if he had an interest in Ireland.
Following the interview the police rang the boy’s father on his mobile and informed him what had just taken place. The police officer was asked how did he get the mobile number and was informed that the matter will be addressed through a solicitor and that he was outraged that his son had gone to school and subjected to this appalling experience.
The matter was reported to the family’s solicitor who took swift action to protect the young boy. The police officer left the school before the parents and solicitor arrived leaving the school to pick up the pieces
The supporter told the 32CSM “the police special branch have subjected me to a sustained campaign of harassment and it appears they now wish to target my young son, solely based on my support for a United Ireland, such action should be condemned, the state are clearly seeking to use children as informers”
The 32 County Sovereignty Movement condemn the English police for this illegal approach which is in breach of child protection laws and we support this man in any actions he may take to protect himself and his family, it is clear there are no depths to which these people will not sink to further their own ends and agenda in Ireland.
