"ISRAEL NEEDS TO RECOGNIZE THE LEGITIMACY OF HAMAS"
The 32 County Sovereignty Movement condemns the ongoing Israeli offensive against the people of the Gaza strip. Sean Burns of the 32csm International department commented on these recent attacks which have so far left over 400 Palestinians dead.
"It’s quite obvious to any independent observer. This is a continuation of Israel’s policy of punishing the Palestinian people in this particular region for electing Hamas as their representatives and rejecting the corrupt PLO leadership of Mahmoud Abbas".
He went on to say; "Israel has failed to learn from the mistakes of the past. Not only have they attempted to deny 1.5 million Gazans the basic subsistence level for survival through their blockades and embargoes, but now they revert to the use of military might in an operation to further crush them."
"It’s a ludicrous idea to think that Palestinians will now shift their allegiances away from Hamas and seek a settlement based on terms dictated by Israel. Instead, they should acknowledge the wishes of the Palestinians and accept dialogue with the Hamas leadership. What we’re seeing currently is the same disastrous mistake that Israel made when re-invading Lebanon in 2006. Movements such as Hezbollah and Hamas are perfectly legitimate expressions of defence against occupation and aggression. The only way to ensure true and lasting security for Israel is to desist from these actions."
When asked about the rocket attacks on Israeli settlements by Hamas, he replied; "You cannot equate home made rockets with the Israeli use of Black Hawk helicopters, naval batteries and drones equipped with hellfire missiles. If you’re going to resort to such extreme measures in attempting to massacre Palestinians, along with denying them any sense of human dignity, they’re likely to use whatever force they can to fight back."
